Rolf Glass Joins Winterthur Licensed Products
Rolf Glass Joins Winterthur Licensed Products Rolf Glass joins the Winterthur Licensed Products program to produce a line of distinctive glassware inspired by designs found at Winterthur Museum, Garden, & Library. The first collection of Winterthur-inspired glassware is expected to debut this summer.
Rolf Glass is a glass-cutting and engraving manufacturer dedicated to producing quality, American-designed glassware by skilled glassworkers in western Pennsylvania. Rolf Poeting founded the company in 1981 after emigrating from Germany, where his family has been in the glass-manufacturing industry for three generations. Each piece of Rolf Glass is engraved in the historic Mount Pleasant Glass Center, the former Lenox Crystal factory, and is thus part of a long, storied history of western Pennsylvania glassmaking.
“We are thrilled about this newest partnership,” stated Kristin DeMesse, Director of Winterthur Licensed Products. “Winterthur has many unique design resources that will translate beautifully on glassware. The design team at Rolf Glass will do a fantastic job of interpreting our resources and creating original and beautiful glassware suitable for today’s market.”
The Winterthur Licensed Products program was launched in April, 1982, to make available high-quality furnishings and decorative accessories based on the antiques in Winterthur’s world-renowned collection. Winterthur licenses more than 25 companies to reproduce, adapt, or interpret designs from its collection. Revenues generated by the sale of licensed products support educational programming at Winterthur.
